Organization Profile: After Liberation on 19th December 1961 from the Portuguese Rule of more than four centuries, Daman and Diu became a part of the U.T. of Goa, Daman, and Diu under the Government of India. After the delinking of Goa, which attained statehood, U.T. of Daman and Diu came into existence on 30th May 1987.

Qualification:
- Senior Secondary (Class XII or its equivalent) from a recognized board with at least 45% marks in accordance with National Council for Teachers Education (Form of application for recognition, the time limit of submission of application, determination of norms and standards for recognition of teacher education programmes and permission to start new course or training) Regulations, 2002 notified on 13.11.2002
And
Diploma in Nursery Teacher Education/ Pre-School Education/Early Childhood Education Programme (D.E.C.Ed.} of duration of not less than one years, or B.Ed. (Nursery) from National Council for Teacher Education recognized institution.
OR
Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 45% marks and 2 year Diploma in Elementary Education (by whatever name known), in accordance with the NCTE (Recognition Norms and Procedure), Regulations, 2002.
OR
Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 50% marks and 4 year Bachelor of Elementary Education (B.EI.Ed.). - who has acquired the qualification of Diploma in Elementary Education (by whatever name known) OR Bachelor of Elementary Education (B.ELEd.) from any NCTE recognized institution shall be considered for appointment as a Preschool teacher provided the
person appointed as a preschool teacher shall mandatorily undergo a six month Bridge Course in nursery teacher education /pre school education/early childhood education programme recognised by the NCTE with in 2 years of such appointments as a pre school teacher.
