Job Title: Elementary Guide
We are looking for a reliable, trustworthy, and innovative teacher to join our Elementary Program. The teacher’s responsibilities include creating activities for developing skills such as language, concentration, problem solving, visual discrimination, assessing children’s individual needs, and communicating with parents as required. You should be able to create a nurturing, stimulating classroom where every child feels included and safe.
To be successful as a guide at LifeHub, you should be a lifelong learner who inspires a love for learning and independence for children under your care.
Montessori Teacher Responsibilities & Attributes:
- Nurture and connect with the child having an understanding that they might be the first adults outside of their immediate family that they are bonding with.
- Observing, guiding and supervising children while they are in the classroom environment.
- Developing activity plans and exercises that cater to the needs of the individual child.
- Creating and maintaining a safe, beautiful, clean, stimulating classroom where all children feel safe and valued.
- Build a community of learners and giving them a solid foundation for future learning
- Setting an excellent example for students and instilling good values in them like love, kindness, understanding, tolerance and respect.
- Ensuring classroom supplies and equipment are available and in working conditions
- Consistently calm, gentle, soft-spoken, patient, and trusting; moving at the pace of the child (no hurrying)
- Demonstrate respect and compassion by using eye contact, kneeling to the level of the child, addressing the children by name, and speaking before touching or moving them.
- Create an emotional safe haven (calm and soothing atmosphere) for those in their care.
Montessori Teacher Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in early childhood teaching, education, or a related discipline is recommended but not a requisite.
- Excellent Communication skills to interact with children.
- Passionate about alternate education.
- An ability to teach groups of children ages 6-12 years in a way that enables independence and encourages intrinsic motivation.
- Good interpersonal skills, abundance of patience along with observational and diagnostic skills.
- Create lesson plans, give appropriate presentations and establish a record keeping system to track children’s progress.
- The ability to multitask, keep calm under pressure, and treat everyone with love and respect.
- Excellent planning and organizational skills.
