IIM Sambalpur invites applications for Faculty Positions at the level of Professor, Associate Professor, Assistant Professor Grade- I & II from the General/SC/ST/NC-OBC/EWS category in the following academic areas. The Appointment (s) will be made on regular/contractual basis depending upon the qualification/experience/ suitability etc.

The pay carries allowances and fringe benefits, such as HRA, LTC, Medical Reimbursement, Faculty Development Fund and financial support towards Presenting Research Papers in Conferences.
*Assistant Professor (Regular) on completion of 3 yrs. of service shall move to the pay band of Academic Level 13A1 with initial basic pay of Rs.1,31,400, however will continue to be designated as Assistant Professor.
Education Qualification and Experience:
1) Professor:
Essential Qualification :
- Ph.D. degree or equivalent in the discipline, with a first class or equivalent at the preceding degree with an exceptionally good academic record throughout.
- Minimum of ten years teaching or research or industry experience of which at least four years should be at the level of Associate Professor in Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs), Indian Institutes of Management (IIMs), National Institute of Industrial Engineering (NIIE) Mumbai, Indian Institute of Science (IISc) Bangalore and Indian Institute of Science Education and Research (IISERs) or in any of the top fifty ranked Business Schools or Universities as per the latest National Institute Ranking Framework (NIRF) ranking or in foreign university of comparable standards.
- Successful track record of teaching, training, research, and publications in reputed peer- reviewed journals (At least three papers in A/A* or six papers in B or equivalent contribution of A and B class journals in ABDC ranking during last four years. However out of the above at least two papers must in class in A/A* and remaining may be in B).
Desirable:
The candidate should have guided as chair for at least three Ph.D. or Fellow Programme In Management (FPM) students and must have conducted at least three research or Consultancy projects for Large sponsored organization and should have Cases published in Harvard or Ivey publication.
2) Associate Professor:
Essential Qualification:
- Ph.D. degree or equivalent in the discipline, with a first class or equivalent at the preceding degree with an exceptionally good academic record throughout.
- Minimum of six years Teaching or Industry or Research experience of which at least three years should be at the level of Assistant Professor.
- Successful track record of teaching, training, research, and publications in reputed peer- reviewed journals (At least two papers in A/A* class or four papers in B or eight papers in C or equivalent contribution of A, B and C class journal in ABDC ranking during last four years. However out of the above at least one paper must in class A/A* and remaining may be in B and C. Publication requirement may be relaxed for candidates having relevant Industry experience).

3) Assistant Professor : (Grade-I)
Essential Qualification:

- At least three years industrial or research or teaching experience, excluding, however, the experience gained while pursuing Ph.D.
- The research publications in class A or B must for confirm appointment (Publication requirement may be relaxed for candidates having relevant Industry experience).
4) Assistant Professor : (Grade-II)
Essential Qualification:
Candidates having PhDs with less than three years’ experience may also apply for the position of Assistant Professor (Grade II). They will be offered a contract position and will be placed in Assistant Professor Grade II beginning with Academic Pay Level 10 or 11 depending upon their length of experience.

GENERAL CONDITIONS :
- All applicants must fulfill the essential requirements of the post and other conditions stipulated in the advertisement as on the closing date for receipt of the applications. - The prescribed educational qualification and experience are the minimum. Mere fulfilling of the minimum advertised qualification and experience requirements does not automatically entitle an applicant to be called for interview.

- The candidates belonging to Economically Weaker Sections (EWS) need to produce a valid Income and Asset Certificate issued by a Competent Authority ascertaining the eligibility of the candidate to apply under EWS category.

5) Post-Doctoral Research Fellowship Program:
(A) Essential Qualification:
IIM Sambalpur offers post-doctoral fellowships to candidates with strong academic credentials, demonstrated research potential, and curiosity to pursue original research. The following are the minimum eligibility criteria.
- Candidates who have obtained a Ph.D. degree (or equivalent) from institutions of national repute or an equivalent level in such other globally recognized Indian or foreign institutions of comparable standards as may be decided by IIM Sambalpur.
- Those who have submitted their thesis for a Ph.D. degree may also apply. However, candidates are expected to complete the Ph.D. program and submit a provisional degree or an original Ph.D. certificate within six months of joining PDRF.
- The candidate must have at least one research paper accepted in an ABDC/ABS category journal.
- Applicants must have a consistently good academic record and demonstrated research potential.

(B) Selection Process:
- The eligible applications are evaluated based on candidates’ demonstrated research potential and fit with the research interests of IIM Sambalpur faculty members.
- The shortlisted candidates will be invited to present their research work/research interests/research proposal before the selection committee. A personal interview will follow the research presentation.
- The institute will offer a Post-Doctoral Fellowship to the selected candidates.

(D) Structure of the Program:
- The fellowship will be two years, extendable for another year, subject to satisfactory performance. The institute will not extend the fellowship beyond three years.
- Post-doctoral fellows would undertake their research activities in collaboration with the faculty members of IIM Sambalpur.
- Apart from the research activities, post-doctoral fellows are expected to assist their research area faculty member(s) in their teaching activities. Such academic assistance is expected to help the fellows gain first-hand teaching experience.
- The Fellowship Program Committee will meet once in six months to review the research progress of post-doctoral fellows.
- By the end of two years, a fellow is expected to complete a minimum of two research papers, either in terms of under-reviews or accepted or published in the reputed international journals (with at least category B in ABDC journal rankings).
- At the end of the two years, the Fellowship Program Committee will review the research contributions of the fellows. Based on the adequacy of the fellow’s research contribution, the committee may recommend the award of a Certificate of Completion, Post-Doctoral Fellowship Program at IIM Sambalpur. If the committee finds that the fellow’s progress is satisfactory, the committee may recommend the extension of the fellowship up to one year.
- Post-doctoral fellows are also expected to complete the suggested coursework during the program. The coursework requirement is customized to provide the fellows exposure to other functional management areas along with quantitative/qualitative research methods.
- The post-doctoral fellows will conform to all the rules and regulations of the institute governing the services of its employees. They are currently vague and will be announced from time to time.
- The post-doctoral fellows may avail of the leaves per the institute’s faculty leave policy.
- The institute may terminate the fellowship during the fellowship program, or a post-doctoral fellow may leave the program after giving one month’s notice. No reason for termination needs to be assigned by either party.
(E) Financial assistance :
IIM Sambalpur provides limited financial aid to its post-doctoral fellows (from the date of joining). The details of the same are as follows:
- A consolidated fellowship amount of Rs 70,000 (Rupees Seventy thousand only) per month.
- 50,000 per year as the contingency grant to cover expenses related to attending conferences, workshops, purchase of books, and relevant research activities on a reimbursement basis upon production of receipts.
- 1,00,000/- (upper limit) for attending one reputed international conference during their entire tenure with the post-doctoral program, on a reimbursement basis, upon production of receipts. This conference grant can be accessed only after completing the first year of the fellowship program and submitting one joint research paper with IIM Sambalpur faculty member for publication in a reputed journal (at least category B in ABDC journal rankings).
- Office space will be provided to PDRF with a laptop and printer. They will be issued a unique research library card, enabling them to borrow up to ten books at a time.
- Personal medical insurance is covered as per the institute’s policy.
Note :
- All qualifications must be from a recognized University/ Deemed University or AICTE-approved autonomous institution (wherever applicable). The courses offered by autonomous institutions should be equivalent to the relevant course approved/ recognized by the Association of Indian Universities (AIU).
- No correspondence/queries will be entertained from candidates regarding e-mail delays, conduct the result of the interview, the result of the interview, and reasons for not being called for the research seminar and interview.
