Organization Profile: Maharaja Suhel Dev State University, Azamgarh was established by the Uttar Pradesh Government vide its Gazette Notification No. 1446/79-V-1-19-1(K)-3-19, Lucknow, dated 5 August 2019. Vide the State Government Notification No. 610/Sattar-1-2021-16(74)/2018 T.C., Lucknow, Dated 28 April 2021, the first academic session of the University was commenced from 2021-2022. It is the State Government University with its under construction own residential campus at Azamgarh and affiliated colleges spread over the two districts of Azamgarh and Mau in the eastern region of Uttar Pradesh. Until the start of this University, the affiliated colleges of the aforesaid two districts were affiliated to Veer Bahadur Singh Purvanchal University Jaunpur, also a State Government University. Currently, there are 438 colleges affiliated to Maharaja Suhel Dev State University Azamgarh, including 15 government aided non-government colleges, 4 government colleges and 419 self-financed colleges.
