Organization Profile: National Institute of Technology Jamshedpur,earlier known as Regional Institute of Technology was established on 15th August 1960 as a joint venture of Government of India and the Government of Bihar in the chain of REC’s (Regional Engineering College) in India with the aim to generate technical graduates of highest standards who could provide technological leadership to the region. It was among the first eight Regional Engineering Colleges (RECs) established as part of the Second Five-Year Plan (1956 – 1961).
Research Position: Project Assistant
Title of the project: Literature review, market and industry survey, and performance assessment of different types of tower bolts used in doors and windows (a builder’s hardware) manufactured and/or available in the Indian market.
Sponsoring/Funding Agency: Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS), Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food & Public Distribution, Govt. of India
Essential Qualifications: B. Tech./ B.E. in Civil Engineering (CE)/ Mechanical Engineering (ME) or equivalent with minimum 65% marks (or 6.5 CGPA on a ten-point scale) or Diploma in CE/ ME or equivalent with a CGPA above 6.5 with 01 years of experience.
Desirable Qualifications: Experience in collecting data through market, industry and performance assessment surveys of various types of Builder’s Hardware.
Project Duration: Six (06) months or till the completion of the project, whichever happens, earlier.
Fellowship: Rs. 15,000/- consolidated per month.
