Organization Profile: Inspired by Srinivasa Aiyangar Ramanujan, one of the world’s greatest-ever mathematical genius, the College adheres to the core values of dedication, hard work, and commitment as encapsulated in the motto of the University of Delhi – Nistha, Dhriti, and Satyam. Ramanujan College, formerly known as Deshbandhu College (Evening), was established in 1958 by the Ministry of Rehabilitation, Government of India, in the memory of Late Lala Deshbandhu Gupta, a patriot who had dedicated his life to the national freedom struggle. The College is 100% funded by the University Grants Commission (UGC) and has been maintained by the University of Delhi since 1972. The College opened its gate for women students in 1994. In 2010, the Deshbandhu College (Evening) was renamed the Ramanujan College. The College became a full-fledged day college in 2012.

Qualification:

Eligibility (A or B): A.
1) A Master’s degree with 55% marks (or an equivalent grade in a point-scale wherever the grading system is followed) in a concerned/relevant /allied subject from an Indian University, or an equivalent degree from an accredited foreign University.
2) Besides fulfilling the above qualifications, the candidate must have cleared the National Eligibility Test (NET) conducted by the UGC or the CSIR (exemption from NET shall be granted in accordance with clause (ii) & (iii) of General Note in the last section of this document).

The Ph.D. degree has been obtained from a foreign University/Institution with a ranking among top 500 in the world University ranking (at any time) by any one of the following: (i) Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) (ii) The Times Higher Education (THE) or (iii) The Academic Ranking Of World Universities (ARWU) of the Shanghai Jiao Tong University (Shanghai).
