Job Title: Director
The Indian Institute of Management Bangalore (IIMB) is looking for its next Director who will lead the Institute towards its vision.
IIMB’s Board of Governors seeks to bring in a forward-looking administrator with a distinguished academic record in management education to serve as its next Director. The individual will have demonstrated experience in strategic, academic and administrative leadership. S/he should be committed to work with one of India’s premier business schools to build an innovative, revenue-generating and research-oriented Institution. The individual will bring dynamism and experience, represent IIMB’s interests and align its priorities to ensure that the Institute remains at the forefront of global business and management education. S/he should be someone who is energized by working with a talented, ambitious and enthusiastic community of people.
The IIM Act, Rules and Regulations will guide the Director, who will be appointed for a five-year term.
Qualification:
Applicants must be a distinguished academic with first class degree in both Bachelor’s and Master’s level, and with a Ph.D. or equivalent from a reputed institution. At least fifteen years of teaching and research experience, of which at least seven years at the level of a full Professor, is required. The ideal candidate will be an eminent academic with extensively published research of global quality, have strong networks in industry and academia, and showcase proven administrative leadership experience.
According to existing regulations, eligible applicants must be Indian Citizens or Overseas Citizens of India. The candidate appointed as Director shall hold office for a tenure of 5 (five) years or until s/he completes 70 (seventy) years of age, whichever is earlier.
In line with the Government of India’s Reservation Policy for OBC, SC/ST, EWS, and PwD candidates, the Institute encourages applications of qualified individuals from reserved categories.
Role of the Director
The Director’s role will include the following:
- Provide academic and administrative leadership to the Institute under the overall guidance of a highly distinguished Board of Governors.
- Provide vision and leadership in the continued evolution and effective implementation of strategies to advance IIMB’s standing as a highly-ranked premier business school. This will include aligning the Board, faculty and professional staff to deliver against the strategy and vision.
- Provide the inspiration and leadership that builds a culture that will enable IIMB to fully capitalise on the talent, energy and commitment of the faculty, professional staff and student body to achieve the highest standards in all activities related to teaching and research.
- Lead and strengthen the positioning of IIMB, and its external brand, to continue its place among the premier business schools of the world.
- Lead the financial management of the approximately INR 400 crore revenue generating Institute and ensure that IMB maintains a strong and robust financial position for the funding of future growth and investments.
Governance Structure
IIMB’s Director will be guided by the IIM Act, Rules and Regulations and his/her performance will be reviewed by IIMB’s Board of Governors every year.
