Organization Profile: The Radhakrishnan University Education Commission of 1949 emphasised the need for establishing Agricultural Universities in India., Subsequently, the indo-American team consistitued under the Chairmanship of Dr. K.R. Damle (1955), the then Vice-president of Indian Council of Agricultural Research, suggested a system of education for Indian as followed in the Land Grant Colleges of USA. The Planning Commission Committee felt the inadequacy of trained personnel for substantial output in agricultural operations with the then set up of research, education and extension in Agriculture, Animal Husbandry and allied fields. In course of time, these recommendations led to the creation of the agricultural universities to accomplish the integration of teaching, research and extension.

• Faculty of Veterinary Science and Animal Husbandry

Qualification: The Dean, Faculty of Veterinary Science and Animal Husbandry shall be selected from amongst the professor of the university or the person of equivalent rank having experience as such for a minimum of 5 years in the concerned faculty . The Dean of faculty shall be trained in one or more branches of Veterinary Science and Animal Husbandry with good academic career and good reputation for his/ her competence in teaching/ research and academic administration

Essential Qualification:

• Graduation in Veterinary Science and Animal Husbandry
• Ph.D in any branch related to Veterinary Science and Animal Husbandry
• Minimum 5 years experience as Professor
• Minimum length of 18 years of service in cadre of teacher/ Scientist

Experience: 5 years
