Essential Qualification:
(i) Postgraduate degree (with at least 55% marks (or an equivalent grade on a point-scale,
wherever the grading system is followed) in subjects such as economics, sociology, social work, development studies, environmental sciences.
(i) A good academic record, with a PhD. Degree in the concerned/relevant disciplines
mentioned above.
(ii) A minimum of eight years of experience in teaching and/or research in an academic/
research position equivalent to that of an Assistant Professor in a University, College or
Accredited Research Institution/industry with a minimum of seven publications in the peer reviewed international or national UGC-listed journals and a total research score of 75 as per the criteria given in Appendix II.
Desirable Qualifications:
- (1) Note that the work profile of the centre is highly interdisciplinary in nature, interconnecting issues of natural science and social sciences. The candidates having research experience in water policy, water governance, and water and sanitation issues would be preferred. Since, the candidate is expected to bear the key responsibilities of conducting the PostGraduate Diploma in Water, Sanitation and Hygiene, the candidate should be actively engaged in the teaching and research programme of the centre, particularly in areas of water and sanitation and water governance. The incumbent should be able to teach 2-3 courses per semester, support fieldwork (both urban and rural fieldwork), and should be able to supervise a master’s dissertation in the relevant areas. It is expected that the incumbent should have a strong orientation to delivering quality content in courses such as drinking water and sanitation, sewage and septage management and hold good strong understanding of public programs in water and sanitation.
(2) Preference will be given to candidates possessing a desirable academic record, proven leadership qualities as well as relevant research and teaching experience in water and sanitation field. The candidate must possess the ability to multitask, show a willingness to work in teams, and the capacity to write high-quality research proposals to secure national and international funding, all of which will be an asset.
