Organization Profile: Indian Institute of Information Technology Guwahati (IIITG) is an institution of National Importance under an Act of Parliament (THE INDIAN INSTITUTES OF INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY (PUBLIC-PRIVATE PARTNERSHIP) ACT, 2017). It offers B.Tech. courses in Electronics and Communication Engineering (ECE) and Computer Science Engineering (CSE), M.Tech. courses in CSE and ECE and runs PhD programmes in ECE, CSE, Mathematics, and Humanities and Social Sciences (HSS). IIITG started operations in August 2013 with B.Tech programmes in CSE and ECE. The first batch of B.Tech. students completed their programme in May 2017. The first convocation of the Institute was held on May 15 2018.The institute has further received funding for infrastructural development and academic improvement under TEQIP III.
Research Position: JRF + PhD
Title of the project: Design and Development of an Assistive Device for Persons with Motor Neuron Disease
Sponsoring/Funding Agency: Department of Science and Technology (DST)
Essential Qualifications: Applicant must fulfil both of the following criteria:
- Master’s degree in Engineering/Technology in the relevant area with a minimum Cumulative Performance Index (CPI) of 6.5 or 60% of marks.
- Selected through either GATE or NET.
OR
- Four-year Bachelor’s degree in Engineering/Technology or equivalent in a relevant area with a minimum CPI of 7.0 or 65% of marks.
- Selected through either GATE or NET.
Note: For a candidate who has qualified GATE, it is not necessary that his/her GATE score is valid at the time of admission.
Reservations:
(SC, ST, OBC (Non-creamy layer) and PD categories): Eligibility criteria will be relaxed by 5% marks or 0.5 CPI for SC/ST/PD applicants. Reservation is as per GOI rules. OBC (Non-creamy layer) candidates will have to enclose a certificate and self-declaration statement as per the format in Annexure-I & Annexure-II. The OBC (NCL) Certificate, issued by the competent authority, on or after 01-06-2020, shall only be acceptable.

Project Duration: Two Years.
Stipend: Rs. 31,000 per month from DST, Govt. of India till the project ends. After the project ends, the student will receive a fellowship from the institute as per the institute norms.
