About The National Institute of Engineering
The National Institute of Engineering (NIE), established in the year 1946, today stands 96th place among top engineering colleges in the country that include IITs and NITs as per (NIRF-2021) announced by Ministry of Human Resources Development (MHRD). It is ranked 13 among India’s top Engineering Colleges, as per survey conducted by India Today (July 2021). NIE is a grant-in-aid institution and approved by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), New Delhi. NIE got autonomous status from Visvesvaraya Technological University (VTU), Belagavi in 2007. It has been accredited by NAAC. Currently, NIE offers 7 UG and 12 PG Programmes. Faculty has been the main strength of NIE. They impart their vast knowledge to the students by using conventional methods of teaching-learning process as well as contemporary ones.
About The Civil Engineering Department
The Department of Civil Engineering has been in the forefront in giving quality engineers to the society. The Civil Engineering Program at NIE is affiliated to VTU and Recognized by AICTE. The Civil Engineering Department programs are accredited by NAAC and NBA. The
laboratories in the Department are equipped with superior instruments and cutting-edge computer programs. The Department has two M.Tech programs; One Hydraulics Engineering and Second in Structural Engineering. Also the department is recognised as a Centre for Research by VTU and as QIP centre by AICTE. The major research areas are Fire Resistance of Structures, Ground Improvement Techniques, Hydraulics & Hydrological modelling, Repair and Retrofitting of elements, Sustainable Materials, Water Resource and Remote Sensing
About RICE 2023
Faculty Development Program (FDP), provides scope and opportunities to acquaint with the recent developments in the field of Engineering and Technology. The FDP is organized with focus given to the research opportunities in diverse areas in the field of Civil Engineering. The importance of research is paramount, and when it comes to application of scientific aspects in driving technology, one should be aware of the recent trends, advancements, and scope in the respective domain. These aspects paved the way to organize the five days FDP on, “Research Insights in Civil Engineering. The opportunities and trends for research in different verticals of Civil Engineering will be presented by faculties from various IISC, IIT’s, NIT’s and IIIT with immense experience and involvement in research activities. The faculty participants can expect great exposure and learningwith respect to the research possibilities and the necessity of conducting research to contribute to the knowledge domain and real-life solutions. We wish and hope this FDP is fulfilled in its truest sense.
Target Audience: This FDP is offered for Faculty, & Research scholars of Civil Engineering Department from various Engineering colleges and Polytechnic Institutes.
Registration Fee: The Registration fees for a participant is Rs.590/-and registration is restricted to only 50 participants. The FDP is in offline mode.

Certificates: Certificates will be provided to all the registered participants attending all the sessions of the program with the submission of Quiz & Feed back during the valedictory event.
