About The National Institute of Engineering
The National Institute of Engineering (NIE), established in the year 1946, today stands 96th place among top engineering colleges in the country that include IITs and NITs as per (NIRF-2021) announced by Ministry of Human Resources Development (MHRD). It is ranked 13 among India’s top Engineering Colleges, as per survey conducted by India Today (July 2021). NIE is a grant-in-aid institution and approved by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), New Delhi. NIE got autonomous status from Visvesvaraya Technological University (VTU), Belagavi in 2007. It has been accredited by NAAC. Currently, NIE offers 7 UG and 12 PG Programmes. Faculty has been the main strength of NIE. They impart their vast knowledge to the students by using conventional methods of teaching-learning process as well as contemporary ones.
About The Civil Engineering Department
The Department of Civil Engineering has been in the forefront in giving quality engineers to the society. The Civil Engineering Program at NIE is affiliated to VTU and Recognized by AICTE. The Civil Engineering Department programs are accredited by NAAC and NBA. The
laboratories in the Department are equipped with superior instruments and cutting-edge computer programs. The Department has two M.Tech programs; One Hydraulics Engineering and Second in Structural Engineering. Also the department is recognised as a Centre for Research by VTU and as QIP centre by AICTE. The major research areas are Fire Resistance of Structures, Ground Improvement Techniques, Hydraulics & Hydrological modelling, Repair and Retrofitting of elements, Sustainable Materials, Water Resource and Remote Sensing
About FDP
The FDP introduces UAV‘s diverse applications in industries and military operations, focusing on civil engineering. Industry and academic experts lead theory and hands-on sessions to impart knowledge on UAV use in topographic mapping, land surveying, and 3D modeling.
About IEEE GRSS and Department of Civil Engineering, NIE, Mysuru:
The IEEE GRSS Chapter in Bangalore unites like-minded members interested in satellite remote sensing and GISci, organizing seminars, workshops, and short courses for PG students, researchers, faculty, and industry professionals. NIE (Estd. 1 946), ranks 1 96th among top engineering colleges. With 7 UG and 12 PG programs, NIE’s Civil Engineering Department produces quality engineers, affiliated with VTU, recognized by AICTE, and accredited by NAAC and NBA.
Who can attend (in the order of preference):
- Faculty members from academic institutions.
- Engineers and researchers from industry organizations including R&D laboratories.
- Research scholars, Ph.D., SRF, JBF, and M. Tech students or equivalent.

3. E-certificate will be issued to those participants whose attendance is minimum 80%, Feedback and Quiz is mandatory.

FDP Inclusions
- FDP kit will be provided on the day of inauguration
- Working lunch and refreshments will be arranged during the FDP.
Accommodation: the organizers will not be responsible for arranging accommodation. There are decent lodging options in close proximity to the organizing institute.
