Organization Profile: North Eastern Space Applications Centre (NESAC), Umiam is an autonomous body functioning under the Department of Space and North Eastern Council (NEC) to assist development process in North Eastern Region using space science and technology. It undertakes specific applications projects using remote sensing, GIS, satellite communication and conducting space science research. The Centre’s services are helpful in natural resources management, infrastructure planning, health, education, disaster management and Earth Observation Applications Mission.

Job Title:

  • Research Scientist
  • Junior Research Fellow

Essential Qualification and Experience:

  1. RS01:
    (i) M.E./M.Tech in Civil Engineering/ Agricultural Engineering/ Remote Sensing & GIS/ Water Resources Engineering with a specialization/ dissertation in water resources with B.E./B.Tech in Civil/ Agricultural Engineering.
    (ii) One year working experience in the relevant field.
  2. JRF01:
    M.Sc./M.Tech in Geography/ Applied Geography/ Geoinformatics/ Remote Sensing and GIS/ Rural Planning/ Urban Planning/ or equivalent with a valid score in NET/GATE/N-JET/ or equivalent in the relevant discipline.
  3. JRF02: B.E./B.Tech in Computer Science and Engineering/ Information Technology/ Software Engineering/ or equivalent with a valid score in NET/GATE/N-JET/ or equivalent in the relevant discipline.
  4. JRF03: M.Sc./M.S./B.Tech in Physics/ Physical Sciences/ Electronics/ Meteorology/ Earth Sciences/ Atmospheric Sciences/ Electronics and Communication Engineering/ Electrical & Electronics Engineering/ or equivalent with a valid
    score in NET/GATE/N-JET/ or equivalent in the relevant discipline.
  5. JRF04: M.E./M.Tech in Civil Engineering/ Agriculture Engineering/ Water Resources Engineering/ Earth Science Engineering/ Environmental Engineering/ Remote Sensing and GIS/ or equivalent with water resources related specialization/dissertation with a valid score in NET/GATE/N-JET/ or equivalent in the relevant discipline.
    OR
    M.Sc. in Remote Sensing & GIS/ Geology/ Environmental Science/ or equivalent with water resources related specialization/dissertation with a valid score in NET/GATE/N-JET/ or equivalent in the relevant discipline.
  6. JRF05: M.Tech in Computer Science and Engineering/ Information Technology/ Geoinformatics/ or equivalent with a valid score in NET/GATE/N-JET/ or equivalent in the relevant discipline.
    OR
    B.Tech./M.Sc. in Computer Science and Engineering/ Information Technology/ Physics/ Earth System Science/ or equivalent with a valid score in NET/GATE/N-JET/ or equivalent in the relevant discipline.

Desired Experience:

  1. RS01:
    Experience in Hydrological and Hydraulic Modeling using Remote Sensing & GIS inputs, etc.
  2. JRF01:
    a) Experience in working with high resolution data, field data collection and land use change modeling.
    b) Knowledge in Remote Sensing and Geographical
    Information Systems, Rural/ Urban Planning
  3. JRF02:
    Working experience in RS & GIS, Web GIS and spatial decision support development.
  4. JRF03: Knowledge of Atmospheric Sciences.
  5. JRF04: Experience in Hydrological Modeling and Mapping using Remote Sensing & GIS inputs etc.
  6. JRF05: Experience in WRF modeling, weather forecast validation, LINUX, Python, etc.

Job Location: Meghalaya

AGE LIMIT:

  • For Research Scientist: Maximum age 35 years as on date of Interview.
  • For Junior Research Fellow: Maximum age 28 years as on date of Interview.
    Relaxation by 5 years in case of SC/ST candidates and 3 years in case of OBC candidates. Ex-servicemen, Persons with Disabilities are eligible for age relaxation as per Government of India orders. Candidates claiming age relaxation have to submit valid documentary proof.

TENURE OF THE POSITIONS:

  • For Research Scientist: The Research Scientist positions are purely on temporary basis for a period of ONE YEAR which can be further extended based on the performance of the candidate in the periodical reviews, for a maximum period of THREE
    YEARS in total or co-terminus with the project, whichever is earlier, without any provision for regularization.
  • For Junior Research Fellow: The Junior Research Fellow positions are purely on temporary basis and co-terminus with the project without any provision for regularization. Junior Research Fellow will be engaged initially for ONE YEAR or the period of the
    project whichever is earlier and is extendable for further periods based on assessment of their work and requirement of project. The maximum period of engagement of Junior Research Fellows shall not exceed FIVE YEARS or project duration whichever is earlier.

Emoluments & Other Benefits:

  1. Pay & Allowances for Research Scientist:
    Selected candidates will be offered the minimum Pay in the Level 10 of the Pay Matrix. The pay will be fixed in the minimum of Pay Level i.e. at present be approximately ₹ 56100/-. In addition DA, HRA, and medical benefits for self only will be allowed as per rules.
  2. Pay & Allowances for Junior Research Fellow: Fellowship Amount ₹ 37,000/-. In addition to the above-mentioned fellowship amount, HRA at the prescribed rates in force at the place of posting/HRA sanctioned under the respective project whichever is less will be paid and Medical benefits for self only will be allowed as per extant rules. The
    fellowship amount shall be taken as Basic pay for this purpose.

How to Apply: Interested and eligible candidates are required to directly come to the venue along with their Biodata (as per prescribed format) and all relevant original documents in proof of details furnished in the Biodata along with a set of self-attested photocopies of the documents. Candidates who are already employed under Central/State Government, Public Sector Undertakings or Autonomous Bodies will also have to produce the “No Objection Certificate”, in original, at the time of interview. In case the candidate fails to produce any of the above documents or if any information furnished in the Biodata is found to be wrong or false, the candidate will not be interviewed. The Biodata format is hosted in the NESAC website www.nesac.gov.in. Biodata should be neatly typed in the prescribed Biodata Format and then printout to be taken. Hand written Biodata will not be accepted.
