The Management of Pachaiyappa’s Trust Board, Chennai being a Single Unit, which runs the following Six Government Aided Arts and Science Colleges at (1) Pachaiyappa’s College, Chennai-30; (2) C. Kandaswami Naidu College for Men, Chennai-102; (3) Chellammal Women’s College, Chennai-32; (4) Pa chaiyappa’s College for Men, Kanchipuram; (5) Pachaiyappa’s College for Women, Kanchipuram and (6) C. Kandaswami Naidu College for Women, Cuddalore has decided to recruit the following vacant posts in the category Assistant Professors/ Librarian / Director of Physical Education for regular appointment against sanctioned vacancies in various subjects by the Director of Collegiate Education, Chennai as per UGC Regulations 2018. The posts will be filled up on the basis of weightage marks to be awarded for (a) Teaching experience, (b) Higher educational qualifications in the subject and (c) marks to be awarded in the Interview.

The Scale of Pay for the post : UGC Level – 10 : (Rs. 57,700 – 1,82,400)

Eligibility:

For Assistant Professor: (A or B)

A.

  1. A Master’s degree with 55% marks (or an equivalent grade in a point-scale wherever the grading system is followed) in a relevant/allied subject concernedfrom an Indian University, or an equivalent degree from an accredited foreign university.
  2. Besides fulfilling the above qualifications, the candidate must have cleared the National Eligibility Test (NET) conducted by the UGC or the CSIR, or a similar test accredited by the UGC, like SLET/SET or who are or have been awarded a Ph.D Degree in accordance with the University Grants Commission (Minimum Standards and Procedure for Award of M.Phil/Ph.D. Degree) Regulations, 2009 or 2016 and their amendments from time to time as the case may be exempted from NET/SLET/SET.

Provided, the candidates registered for the Ph.D., programme prior to July 11, 2009, shall be governed by the provisions of the then existing Ordinances/Bye-laws/Regulations of the Institution awarding the degree and such Ph.D., candidates shell be exempted from the requirement of NET/SLET/SET for recruitment and appointment of Assistant Professor or equivalent positions in Universities /Colleges/Institutions subject to the fulfillment of the following conditions:-

  • The Ph.D. degree of the candidate has been awarded in a regular mode;
  • The Ph.D. thesis has been evaluated by at least two external examiners:
  • An open Ph.D. viva voce of the candidate has been conducted;
  • The Candidate has published two research papers from his/her Ph.D. work, out of which at least one is in a refereed journal;
  • The candidate has presented at least two papers based on his/her Ph.D. work in conferences/seminars sponsored/funded/supported by the UGC / ICSSR / CSIR or any similar agency

The fulfillment of these conditions is to be certified by the Registrar or the Dean (Academic Affairs) of the University concerned.

Note: NET/SLET/SET shall also not be required for such Masters Programmes in disciplines for which NET/SLET/SET is not conducted by the UGC, CSIR or similar test accredited by the UGC like SLET/SET.

OR

B.

The Ph.D. degree has been obtained from a foreign university/institution with a ranking among top 500 in the World University Ranking (at any time) by any one of the following: (i) Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) (ii) the Times Higher Education (THE) or (iii) the Academic Ranking or World Universities (ARWU) of the Shanghai Jiao Tong University (Shanghai).

Note: The Academic score as specified in Appendix II (Table 3B) for Colleges, shall be considered for short- listing of the candidates for interview only, and the selections shall be based only on the performance in the interview.


Librarian

  1. A Master’s degree in Library Science, Information Science or Documentation Science or an equivalent professional degree, with at least 55% marks (or an equivalent grade in a point-scale, wherever the grading system is followed)
  2. A consistently good academic record, with knowledge of computerization of a library.
  3. Besides fulfilling the above qualifications, the candidate must have cleared the National Eligibility Test (NET) conducted by the UGC, CSIR, or similar test accredited by the UGC like SLET/SET or who are or have been awarded a Ph.D. Degree in accordance with the University Grants Commission (Minimum Standards and Procedure for Award of Phil./Ph.D. Degree) Regulations, 2009 or 2016 and their amendments from time to time as the case may be:

Provided that the, candidates registered for the Ph.D. degree prior to July 11, 2009, shall be governed by the provisions of the then existing Ordinances/Bye-laws/Regulations of the Institution awarding the degree, and such Ph.D. candidates shell be exempted from the requirement of NET/SLET/SET for recruitment and appointment of Assistant Professor or equivalent positions in Universities /Colleges/Institutions subject to the fulfillment of the following conditions:-

  • The Ph.D. degree of the candidate has been awarded in a regular mode;
  • The Ph.D. thesis has been evaluated by at least two external examiners;

  • NET/SLET/SET shall also not be required for candidates in such Masters Programmes for which NET/SLET/SET is not conducted by the UGC, CSIR or similar test accredited by the UGC like SLET/SET.

Director of Physical Education: Eligibility (A or B):

A.

  1. A Master’s Degree in Physical Education and Spots or Physical Education or Sports Science with 55% marks (or an equivalent grade in a point-scale, wherever the grading system is followed)
  2. Record of having represented the university / college at the inter­university/inter-collegiate competitions or the State and / or national championships.
  3. Besides fulfilling the above qualifications, the candidate must have cleared the National Eligibility Test (NET) conducted by the UGC or CSIR, or a similar test accredited by the UGC, like SLET/SET, or who are or have been awarded a Ph.D. Degree in Physical Education or Physical Education and Sports or Sports Science, in accordance with the University Grants Commission (Minimum Standards and Procedure for Award of M.Phil./Ph.D. Degree) Regulations, 2009 or 2016 and their amendments from time to time, as the case may be:Provided that, candidates registered for the Ph.D. degree prior to July 11, 2009, shall be governed by the provisions of the then existing Ordinances/Bye-laws/Regulations of the Institutions awarding the degree and such Ph.D. degree holders shall be exempted from the requirement of NET/SLET/SET for recruitment and appointment of Assistant Professor or equivalent positions in Universities/Colleges/Institutions, subject to the fulfillment of the following conditions:-
    • The Ph.D. degree of the candidate has been awarded in a regular mode;
    • The Ph.D. thesis has been evaluated by at least two external examiners;
    • Open Ph.D. viva voce of the candidate has been conducted;
    • The candidate has published two research papers from his/her Ph.D. work out of which at least one is in a refereed journal;
    • The candidate has presented at least two research papers in conference / seminar, based on his/her Ph.D. work.

Note: The fulfillment of these conditions (a) to (e) is to be certified by the Registrar or the Dean (Academic Affairs) of the University concerned.

  • NET/SLET/SET shall also not be required for such Masters Programmes in disciplines for which NET/SLET/SET is not conducted by the UGC, CSIR or similar test accredited by the UGC like SLET/SET.
  • Passed the physical fitness test conducted in accordance with these

B. An Asian game or commonwealth games medal winner who has a degree at least at Post-Graduation level.


Age Limit: Candidates should not have completed 59 years as on 31.01.2024 since the age of superannuation is 60.
