Organization Profile: The Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas (MoPNG), Government of India, set up the Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Petroleum Technology at Jais, Amethi, Uttar Pradesh, by the Act of the Parliament. The Institute has been accorded the eminence of being an Institution of National Importance along the lines of the Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs). The Institute is empowered to award degrees in its own right. The Institute is co-promoted as an energy domain specific institute by six leading oil public sector units (Oil and Natural Gas Corporation Limited, Indian Oil Corporation Limited, Oil India Limited, Gail (India) Limited, Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited and Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited) in association with the Oil Industry Development Board. The Institute is associating with leading International Universities/Institutions specializing in the domain of Petroleum Technology and Energy.

Eligibility Criteria:
The applicants should fulfill the following criteria:
- PhD along with first class or equivalent at the preceding degree (Bachelors/ Masters) in Petroleum Engineering or Chemical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering or Industrial Engineering or Geology with an outstanding academic record throughout.
- A minimum of 10-years’ experience as a Professor in a reputed educational institute and should have guided PhD students.
- He/she is expected to have a minimum of 5-years’ administrative experience and leadership qualities to head an Institute of National Importance.
- The applicant should preferably be less than 60 years of age as on the last date of receipt of the application.
Scale of Pay: The post carries a fixed pay of Rs. 2,25,000/- per month in Pay Level- 17 as per 7th CPC with applicable allowances.
Job Location: Amethi, Uttar Pradesh
Duration: The appointment will be made on contract basis for a period of five years or till he/she superannuates, whichever is earlier, as per usual terms and conditions. The retirement age will be 70 years.
