Organization Profile: The Speech & Language Technologies Laboratory of SNU Chennai, headed by Dr. T. Nagarajan, is seeking applications, for the post of Junior/Senior Research Fellow. They will be working on National Language Translation Mission (NLTM): BHASHINI, funded by the Ministry of electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), Govt. of India (A consortium project headed by IIT Madras). The objective is to develop Indian Language technology systems & products and deploy them in the field with the help of start-ups. Prof. T. Nagarajan is leading the Prosody modelling (for eg., stress, intonation, emotions in speech) part of the project. The candidate’s day to day role will involve in developing signal processing and incorporating prosody (emotions) in Text-to-speech synthesis systems to get better naturalness in the synthetic speech.

OTHER PREFERRED SKILLS:
- In-depth knowledge in digital signal processing (preferably in speech signal processing), Natural language processing, machine learning for speech applications
- Comfortable with Linux
